🔍 Industry News Update: Simplification & Modernisation Projects by HMRC 🔍
Here at NG Terminal Ltd, we keep a close eye on industry updates to make sure we’re providing the best possible service to our clients. The The Bonded Warehousekeepers Association (BWA) recently shared news about some important projects that HM Revenue & Customs is working on to simplify and modernise the way things are done. Here’s a quick rundown:
1️⃣ WOWGR Reform: HM Revenue & Customs is planning some changes to the Warehousekeepers and Owners of Warehoused Goods Regulations (WOWGR). They’ve been consulting on this, and a proposal is being prepared for government review.
2️⃣ Excise Movement Guarantees: There’s talk of removing the mandatory requirement for movement guarantees, bringing excise warehouse rules more in line with those for tax warehouses. Certain movements, like bulk fuel by sea or between UK tax warehouses, might no longer need these guarantees. However, HMRC will still be able to require a guarantee if necessary.
3️⃣ Due Diligence: HM Revenue & Customs has wrapped up discussions with industry stakeholders to get feedback on current processes. The next steps will involve working on how to improve and streamline these procedures.
